It's been a while...
Since I've blogged, not that many people care, but a few might as I sometimes hear a remark in an email or such about a post. So here we go again; it's been a while ... since I blogged, since we had a Labor Day, yes one whole year. To say that about a holiday it sounds a bit silly but I don't really care much how I sound these days.
Do you remember what you were doing last Labor Day? If you aren't from the USA, most likely you do not recall. I frankly can't remember last Labor Day, but only truly sure of a few things:
I remember my best Labor Day ever. I remember it. I had decided to take my young daughter on a spontaneous road trip to Virginia Beach. At the time, I was a first grade teacher. School had barely started, and it was the last good opportunity to fit in a vacation before the academic grind that would continue until Thanksgiving break.
The skies were blue, the waves were big, and the oceanfront hotel balcony up on the 11th floor was our private place to take in the view and air. It didn't matter to me that Labor Day weekend how good or bad that summer had been up to that point ... only those holiday moments mattered. My little girl, our trip, and mostly our time together.
Reflecting on the summer of 2018, I'll say it went by quicker than I'd have expected considering the state of my life now versus over 10 years ago.
Did you have any goals on Summerflare and if so, were they met? All I'll say about Summerflare is that it is the last season I'll listen to the advice of others. I'll live in and for the moment and for what comes at me not for what I think is written in the sand.
Besides, where would you like your history written, in the sand or in the stars?
