It's been a while since I shared anything about me. Well, about one year and one month since Dragon Lord Alleviates was interviewed for the War Dragons blog. It's been a while since I shared anything except about War Dragons. So, this will be my blog, read it or not, I plan to write a few times a week about anything and everything, and some of it might actually be about dragons. But, I assure you, it will be a whole lot of nothing.
I was sweet 16 and had never heard the phrase, "a whole lot of nothing,." I was away from home for the summer with 99 other super-geek rising high school seniors to explore college life ... and maybe study an academic topic or two in the process.
Like being in the Creators Faction today, I got to be around a select few big-brained creative people from around the world. The biggest differences I guess are that we were juniors in high school then, and we knew definitively when the merging of minds, event, summer, what ever you want to call it would end.
Aside from getting up at 5 a.m. every morning daily to avoid others in the curtain-free girl's dorm showering area, dreary-eyed after working hard each preceding day till the wee hours of the night "learning about college life," the summer was an experience to be remembered. Like meeting many of the Creators Faction members in San Francisco at Pocket Gems headquarters this week ... minus the community showers (thank God) and quite a departure from my sweet 16 summer college campus accommodations. But more about San Francisco later this week. I know you're probably dying to hear more Creators Faction bragging. Well, no, you won't from me. But I will share my account of the journey soon, very soon. Just after I explain "A Whole Lot of Nothing."
So, that summer at geek camp, we met folks from all over the world which was a blast. We built things (and broke some, too); we studied as hard as we played. But I have never forgotten the one day when I'd asked my new friend there from Georgia what was it she was trying to accomplish with her class project. In a long, almost incomprehensible Southern drawl, she uttered, "a whole lot of nothing."
Took me a minute. I stopped and absorbed the humor and irony in her statement. A whole lot of nothing. Wow. Mind you, don't ever respond to a teacher, officer, or otherwise elder with that phrase. Husbands, never tell your wife that when you're working on your honey-do lists. But you may hear me drop the phrase here and there as I undertake this new journey as a Creators Faction blogger. No YouTube, Twitch, selfies, live streams, or other easy ways of recording my opinions and reactions. I prefer to pen my work (or art for that matter) old school style.
So with my new blog, you'll learn a little bit more about the Creators Faction, Pocket Gems, War Dragons, me, and a whole lot of nothing, if you bother reading it.
