The first Celebrity Vacation traveler to the Farm, XPFarmsLooseX1, was graced by famous writer BeledinesSoul (The Shadow Wars Saga). Bel is also a long-time Creators Faction member and was Dragon Lord for October of 2016! Bel left leadership of her Diamond team, LeagueOfSouls to visit the farm for Capture the Flag week, February 20-26, 2018. If you'd like to drop Bel a message, find her on Twitter @dragonspleen
To follow are her post-vacation survey responses. We hope you enjoy reading them!
A: Coming from a very active team, obviously it was more quiet on the farm (though during the times when I was online with people, it was very enjoyable chatting with them). However, I’d have to say the one biggest difference was the amount of defense invites. I have never experienced anything like that. No sooner would I click “X” then five more invites would pop up! Sometimes I wanted to defend myself, and I couldn’t even join my own defenses because the banners kept jumping with more and more new invites!
Q: How does it make you look at what the farm teams do for the leagues now that you have been with them for a week?
A: I’ve always been a staunch believer in supporting farm teams. This means NOT declaring on them, since the members are doing the rest of the community a service and the only thing we can really give them back is medals/rubies (losing once per day, as they all request you do) and peace so they can collect their daily egg tokens. I was there when the team was given a gift war — i.e., a war that another team intended to lose so the farm could maintain their rank — and that was a very kind gesture on their part.
Q: What do you think the challenges are for farms, if any?
A: Mostly gathering resources. They get hit so often that it’s hard for them to accumulate anything in their own personal farms. If they need to upgrade buildings or feed a dragon, it may be nearly impossible for them to get the necessary resources for it without taking drastic measures (like taking down their base, changing name, etc.).
Q: What if anything did you learn about your own base while being on the Farm?
A: Having been the first guest, before this program was officially announced, I didn’t actually change my base into an XP farm. However, simply by being on the team I’d get a lot of folks hitting me. My base seemed to work well — I’d certainly never seen so many daily victories — but I know I’ve got a long way to go. I’d like to add some classic towers among my elemental towers, but right now it’s easier for me to keep building up the big guns that I currently have, rather than try to start improving on a level 20-something archer or trebuchet.
Q: What, in your opinion, would make Farm life better and/or easier?
A: I think if more teams understood not to declare wars on the Farm, that would be a major step forward.
Q: After your experience on the Farm, would you ever consider being a farm or having a farm account?
A: One day in the future when I am officially retired from War Dragons I’ll convert my base into an XP farm, as that’s the best use for it if I’m no longer playing competitively. However, the game still has me snared in its vicious clutches, so I’ll continue to play regularly for a while 😉
Q: What was the funniest moment for you during your farm vacation?
A: Probably when I was trying to join a war run during our gift war…and I failed miserably every time because of those bloody defense banners popping up! I would keep clicking on the wrong thing. It was embarrassing (and really frustrating).
Q: Do farms use other farms to farm??
A: Teamless farms or farms from other XP teams. For me personally, I bookmark players level 300+ who are teamless so I can practice on their bases. (These aren’t farm bases mind you, just bases with high level/maxed towers.) So I’d say attacking teamless XP bases is definitely the way to go for these folks.
