“Obsi?” a familiar female voice called softly.
She sat up quickly, which made her realize she’d been struck on the head. “Ow. Is that you Dally?”
“Oh wonderful. There’s two of you!” a male voice exclaimed in disgust.
“Oh be quiet Stormy,” another male voice chided. “No one wants to hear from the likes of you!”
Obsi recognized the second voice as one of her officers. “You know him, Soc?” she asked as she continued to slowly sit up.
“You could say that,” Socrates replied. “But don’t mind him. He can be a bit of a downer.”
Dally knelt in front of Obsi and placed her hand on Obsi’s right shoulder. “Are you alright?”
“I think so. Where are we?”
In the dim light provided by the moonlight streaming in from a very small window far above them Obsi saw a male figure push off the wall with his shoulders. “We have been captured. We’re in The Pits.”
“The what?” Obsi asked. She looked at Dally who shook her head.
“Fire is right. The Fight Pits. We’ve been here before…”
“And were hoping to not be here again,” the man her sister had referred to as Fire growled. “It’s well named.”
“It’s awful,” Soc agreed, “but we must make the best of it and get out!”
“The only way to get out is to fight,” a female voice said from behind Obsi. She immediately recognized her leaders voice and turned to look at her. Queen looked down at Obsi and smiled.
“But who put us here?” Obsi asked. “I don’t remember anything after going to bed…”
“I’ll give you one guess,” Dally spat.
“Slender,” Obsi replied. “I thought Gustav banned him from this nonsense.”
“Well,” Fire replied slowly, “either he changed his mind or Slender is doing this at great risk.”
“No matter,” Queen said. “They expect us to fight if we want to live.”
“Then fight we shall,” they all said in unison.
