"Why then did you even bother with him?" the Druid screeched. "If you were just going to perch him before his prime!!"
Dally closed her eyes for several seconds before replying. "Because he was clearly not going to be as strong a dragon as I needed. Equestor is a fine dragon, but he's not nearly as good as Avyx." The Druid started to speak, but Dally put up a finger half an inch from his nose and continued. "Avyx was getting twice as far as Equestor at a third of the level. I need strong dragons in my lineup. Equestor is just fine on the perch, for now."
"Fine," the Druid muttered. "I'll go tend to Chompa then."
"Keep working on Iteru as well," Dally said firmly. "And keep in mind if you speak to me like that again you will be looking for another Dragon Lord to employ you. And it will NOT be easy."
"Yes Lord Dallyah," the Druid said flatly as he walked away.
"Now then," Dally said, turning to Obsi, "How is your breeding coming along?"
Obsi took a deep breath. "Well, Amarok is not leveling as easily as I'd hoped."
"You bred Hydron outside the path, didn't you?"
"Yes," Obsi replied guiltily.
Dally smiled and shook her head. "Well, you've got to do what you've got to do. But don't go off path too much. What level is Amarok?"
"Just got him to ten before I came here," Obsi said proudly. "I'm aiming to have him breedable in the next two days to get back on path."
"Good. Now then, let's go check on Avyx. How is Leos working out for you?" She motioned toward the training den and began moving toward it.
"He's an absolute tank!" Obsi replied, failing to mask her excitement. "Angel loves him."
"Good! Is she ready to come here for a bit? You can have Plat. She'll get your druids in order for you."
"My druids are fine," Obsi laughed. "That one of yours has issues!"
Dally laughed. "He does indeed, but he's the best there is. But he forgets his place rather easily."
Timur snorted from behind them, making Obsi jump. She glared at him while he laughed.
As they entered the training hall, a druid came rushing toward them. "Lord Dallyah!" he called, out of breath and wildly flailing his arms. "They've discovered a new dragon group!"
Dallys eyes widened. "Really? What are they?"
"No one is sure yet, but they're greater than the Obsidians!"
"Go find out what you can and report back to me," Dally ordered.
As the druid scurried off, Dally turned to Obsi and Timur. She opened her mouth to speak, but before she could get the words out Timur said, "Well, it looks like a rework of those breeding paths is in order."
Dally smiled. "Yes, the Breeding Master has her work cut out for her, indeed."
